How I can Help?

Lent Lunches

Parishes range from organising two Lent Lunches to organising ne lunch every week during Lent. Help is needed cooking, slicing, serving, setting tables and tidying up. A friendly and pleasant task.

The Lent Lunches are a community event, a real get-together. They also raise substantial amounts of money and could become a means of raising awareness of how we can all help to tackle poverty and injustice.

Christian Aid Week

Help is needed "on the road", collecting, an ideal task for marathon runners-in-training, dog walkers, people with babies that need to be walked, but the main attribute is cheerfulness and reliability. Small rounds and big rounds available!

Also help behind the scenes as Parish organiser, church representative and Parish Treasurer.

A Parish organiser makes up the rounds for the collectors. Beyond that each Parish has its own system for matching collectors and rounds!

Christian Aid Week reaches more people than any other fundraising event in Jersey. You can help it flourish and grow still stronger. The amount raised each year is around £50,000. By better coverage, better publicity and with your help we aim to increase this substantially.

Task Groups

  1. Christian Aid and Campaigning
  2. Christian Aid and Youth
  3. Christian Aid Communications

Three groups, they need your enthusiasm and talents to really thrive. Almost any talent can in fact be put to use by Christian Aid in Jersey.

1. Christian Aid and campaigning

Christian Aid seeks to alleviate poverty but also to tackle structures of injustice and to eradicate poverty. Issues include trade justice, fair trade and debt cancellation.

2. Christian Aid and schools and youth

This group will develop a strategic approach to present Christian Aid effectively and acceptably to a group which often holds negative images of Christianity.

3. Christian Aid and communications

Equipping people to present the work of Christian Aid to different audiences both inside and outside the church, improving communications within Christian Aid and to / from all the churches.
